What we can and cannot do
This page is always here, from anywhere, without an account and without anything having to go wrong first. It is the plainest text we write.

If something you put on your skin has reacted
This applies whether or not it came from us, and whether or not a trial of yours is running.
Stop using this now.
- A gentle cleanser.
- A bland moisturiser.
- A mineral sunscreen.
- Nothing else — including anything sold as soothing, calming or repairing. Adding products now makes it impossible to tell what settled your skin down.
See a doctor if any of these happen
- It spreads.
- Anything swells.
- Your eyes or eyelids are involved.
- You get a fever.
- Nothing settles down after about a week.
Afterwards
- This ingredient is recorded as one that caused you a reaction. It stays out of your suggestions.
- Tell us when your skin has settled. We won't assume it from time passing.
- When you start again, start less often than you did before and build up slowly.
If you are worried about a spot, a mole, or a rash
We are not going to try to settle your mind about it. That is not something we can honestly do, and pretending otherwise would be the most harmful thing on this page.
What we do instead
Worth having someone look at this
We measure colour and texture across whole regions of your face. We can't assess an individual spot or mole, and we don't try to.
A doctor or a pharmacist can look at it in person. Bring it up at your next appointment, or book one.
Take your Skinstreak export with you: the dates, the measurements, the uncertainty on each one, and any photos you chose to keep.
This isn't a diagnosis, and it isn't urgent unless you feel it is.
Things we never do
- We never name a condition as a conclusion. Not from an image, not from your history, not ever.
- We never assess an individual spot or mole, and there is no code path that says one looks fine. The two possible errors are not symmetric: sending somebody to get a normal spot looked at wastes an appointment, and the other mistake can kill somebody. So the capability is absent rather than tuned.
- We never suggest a substance that only a doctor can give you, in any market, however much you ask.
- When something on this page applies to your reading, ingredient suggestions are removed from it rather than shown underneath. Warnings get skimmed.
- No score, no ranking, no comparison against another person. Ever, for any reason.
How often to scan
You can scan as often as you like. Skin changes over weeks, so more frequent scans mostly show measurement noise rather than change.
What to bring with you
You can export everything we hold at any time, and delete all of it in one step from one screen. The export is a plain file with the dates, the measurements, the uncertainty on each one, and any images you chose to keep.
Something we have got wrong
If anything on this page reads as advice we are not qualified to give, tell us and we will change it. That is a standing invitation, not a formality.
